Alternative fuel engines To further reduce the CO2 emissions by burning less petrol, C-MAX is available with a Flexifuel engine that runs on bioethanol (E85) fuel, and emits 70% less CO2 than a standard petrol engine. If you are running low on fuel and bioethanol is not readily available, you can use petrol until you next need to fill up.

In Ireland, the bulk of E85 is produced by Cadbury Milk Products in West Cork as a byproduct of their cheese making industry and distributed by Maxol Ireland.

Ford FlexiFuel vehicles qualify for a VRT reduction of 50% up to a maximum of €2,500. Ford FlexiFuel vehicles also qualify for an insurance reduction of up to 20% from FordInsure. VAT registered companies may also claim the VAT paid on E85.
